Melamine Sensor

Melamine TestingUnisensor was the first company developing a rapid test detecting Melamine in milk to answer the Melamine crisis of 2008 in China. Now some other tests are commercially available in other companies, but MELAMINESENSOR test remains the most sensitive/rapid test compared to the other existing dipstick tests. It can detect 250 ppb of melamine in 5 minutes, without any sample cleaning or processing.

Summary of the “Quick protocol” (~250 ppb):
• Place the reagent microwell in the Heatsensor at 40°C.
• Add directly 200 μl of milk into one reagent microwell and mix 5 to 10 times to homogeneity.
• Incubate 1 min at 40°C. (Not more than 1 minute).
• Dip one Dipstick into each microwell.
• Continue incubating for 4 min at 40°C.
• Remove the dipstick out of the microwell
• Remove the filter and read the colour intensities directly by visual observation or using ReadSensor.

Summary of the “Sensitive protocol” (125-250 ppb):
• Place the reagent microwell in the Heatsensor at 40°C.
• Add directly 200 μl of milk into one reagent microwell and mix 5 to 10 times to homogeneity.
• Incubate 1 min at 40°C. (Not more than 1 minute).
• Dip one Dipstick into each microwell.
• Continue incubating for 8 min at 40°C.
• Remove the dipstick out of the microwell
• Remove the filter and read the colour intensities using ReadSensor.
